Okay, this is random and weird and frankly, just downright gross. We’ve had this nasty sticky mess on our lazy-susan since we moved into the house.
I didn’t want to put contact paper over it before I tried cleaning it with everything possible, because ewww, it would still be under there.
I tried several commercial cleaners (after I tried vinegar, which is my go-to for a lot of things), and all they seemed to do was smear it around (I won’t call them out by name but some of them were “Simple” in name and others contained about 3 numbers.) Even if it looked like it semi-cleaned it, a week later it looked like this again. It was a magnet for nasty.
I was finally resolved to go ahead and put my contact paper down, three. years. later.
Then I had a thought. If rubbing alcohol took decades-old paint off my floor, what would it do to this sticky-greasy mess, that I’m sure is left over from the 70s?
I was floored. Again.
(That weird black spot was on my lens – apologies.)
Look at that! And that was no scrubbing!!! I sprayed it on (I still have alcohol in a spray bottle from the floors) and wiped it up. That simple!
People! This opens doors for me!!
Stove vent hood, you’re next on my list and you’re going down.
NOTE: If you’re going to try this, please test it in an inconspicuous area. Remember, it can remove paint! Proceed at your own risk.
